Arzberg sugar pot by Hermann Gretsch
Everybody is talking about the crisis – the Werkbundarchiv - Museum of Things shows that a crisis is also a chance, a moment to dare something: In 1931, in the middle of the world economic crisis, the Arzberg company released a porcelain set designed by Hermann Gretsch, "Form 1382". It was the first set that was available in single pieces like this sugar pot – depending on the individual budget. Apart from the pure white form a variant with stripes in rusty red was produced. The simple elegance was so appealing to the clients that the set became a bestseller. "Form 1382" is still being produced.
