THING of the month
April 2010:
Laundry Dryer
"This
is a
wall mounted clothes drying rack. It is currently in it's retracted
position, but with a light upwards pressure on the lower portion (the
bit near the left of the picture) the wooden rack would rise up through
the upper portion and fan out to become a horizontal array upon which
wet items can be dried. I believe that the frequency of pinch-related
injuries, plus the risk of running into one of the arms while they were
extended led to a drop in popularity for this style of dryer in recent
times." Alden Hoot, Milwaukee, WI.
"It
is a wall mounted set of hooks for drying things. the large flat part
is fastened to the wall with the spokes pointing upwards. the piece
that connects to all of the spokes slides upwards, allowing the
spokes to come up, and resting against the ring, they will also begin
to angle outwards. with the spokes pointing outwards, dirty dish
rags, or bags, or any small wet piece of fabric or plastic can be
hung up. for best results, pull the piece that connects all the
spokes downwards, then use them to hang your item, then push it back
upwards. this way you will spread your item out to its maximum
capacity, therefore allowing the most surface area to dry at once." Jack Piels
